The Menzingers Release "Second City" For Upcoming Red Scare Compilation

Chicago punk label Red Scare Industries has put together a special compilation of songs of current artists and alumni to celebrate their 20th anniversary. 20 Years Of Dreaming And Scheming features brand new tracks from The Menzingers, Laura Jane Grace, Dead To Me, The Falcon, Cobra Skulls, The Holy Mess, Nothington, No Trigger, Sam Russo, Sludgeworth, The Brokedowns, The Bollweevils, Elway, The Lippies, and more out on Friday, September 6 (pre-order). Today, The Menzingers are happy share their new video for their track "Second City."

"We spent a lot of time in Chicago during the formative years of the band, so when asked to contribute a song for Red Scare’s 20th anniversary, it felt right to pay homage to that era. “Second City” is about a time and place that feels impossible to recreate now, and maybe that’s why I hold it so close to my heart.  Chicago has been like a second home, so it felt pretty natural to write about."

Tobias Jeg and Brendan Kelly founded Red Scare Industries back in 2004 so they could help some friends and lift up underground bands. The Left-leaning indie-punk operation began in San Francisco, but is essentially Chicago-based these days. With a roster boasting 50+ artists, they’ve developed several bands in the past decades, mostly traditional punk and related genres. There’s bands from Ireland, Wyoming, Paris, Scranton… young bands that sell fidget spinners at the merch table, and old bands from the lawless punk scene of the 1980’s. It’s a diverse flock. Unlike so many other entities in the music biz, this record label is proud to report that they pay band royalties on time, big or small. That’s a rarity these days, and Red Scare is well aware that it’s been surpassed by more ambitious labels, but is content knowing that they’re an ethical operation for bands that want a dependable platform.

Red Scare has released material for bands such as The Menzingers (Chamberlain Waits), Sincere Engineer (Rhombithian), The Lillingtons (Death By Television), The Copyrights (Make Sound), Sundowner (Four One Five Two), The Methadones (This Won’t Hurt…), Laura Jane Grace (Brought To Rot), Direct Hit! (Brainless God), and many more.
