Traditionally on the last weekend in June, the musical "Who's Who" from the alternative, punk, metal and hardcore genres meet in the Westphalian metropolis of Münster. This year, for the first time, it will be held over 2 days and, as usual, it is completely sold out. The Vainstream Rockfest will bring a total of over 60 bands to the stage - including international top acts such as PARKWAY DRIVE, DROPKICK MURPHYS, THE HIVES and the national top acts FEINE SAHNE FISCHFILET and SONDASCHULE. A special highlight will be the DONOTS, who are celebrating their 30th anniversary this year.
Timo Birth, inventor and still head of Vainstream, launched the festival in his hometown of Münster in 2006, and in the first year 6,000 visitors came straight away. In 2004, he founded his own concert agency Kingstar, which, like the Vainstream Rockfest, is now one of the biggest independent players on the German music scene. With Kingstar, Birth now organizes tours in the largest venues in Germany and was, among other things, largely responsible for the live success of stars such as Bonez MC & RAF Camora or the Broilers from Düsseldorf. Both acts are now among the most successful live attractions in the German-speaking world, each of which has thrilled over a quarter of a million fans on their last tours. "I have the great privilege of having turned my hobby into a profession," says festival organizer Timo Birth, "and I want to give something back to the bands and the audience of the Vainstream Rockfest so that everyone can enjoy their time here to the fullest, just like I do.
To this day, the Vainstream Rockfest feels like it was made by fans for fans and that is certainly one of the main factors for its long-lasting success. In addition to three open-air stages, there are club concerts, readings and various events such as skating and after-show parties, attracting visitors from all over Germany to Münster every year.
On the grounds of the Hawerkamp and the indoor and outdoor areas of the Halle Münsterland, the Vainstream Rockfest is also a festival of short distances, on and to the event site. Located in the middle of the city and perfectly accessible by public transport.
