La Dispute stream new single,

A decade after their groundbreaking release "Rooms of the House", La Dispute revisit both the original recording session and the story and characters with "Elster Stares the Desert Down", a piece that was originally intended to be combined with the album's closing song "Objects in Space", but was abandoned in the studio before the lyrics were written.

The song is available here:

With the album's ten-year anniversary approaching and a discography release in the works, La Dispute decided to return to this piece and the album's protagonist, both from the perspective of the band and the character looking back into the past years later.

Musically, the piece was initially recorded in 2013 at Studio 4 with Will Yip under the working title "Free Write". Vocals were added by singer Jordan Dreyer earlier this year in Detroit, Michigan, alongside guitarist Chad Morgan-Sterenberg while on a writing trip for a new, as-yet-unfinished fifth LP, where it was retitled "Magpie Stares the Desert Down," a nod to Don DeLillo's 2010 short novel "Point Omega," which was a key influence on the record's lyrics. The track was then mixed and mastered by Will Yip.

"Magpie Stares the Desert Down" is a lyrical symbol of new beginnings and change, serving as a poetic epilogue to the completed story of Rooms. Musically, it's a captivating sonic addendum to the album's hypnotic finale.

For fans, it's an invaluable glimpse into La Dispute's continued sonic evolution, while also offering deeper insights into the themes and people that populate their critically acclaimed 2014 third album.

La Dispute is paying homage to the album's 10-year anniversary with 5 exclusive shows:
