Almost a year after releasing the critically acclaimed album "Unison Life", Belgian trio Brutus today unveils new single "Love Won't Hide The Ugliness". Recorded during the "Unison Life" sessions but ultimately left off the album's final tracklist, the band consider this single to be as integral a part of the album as any other track and are thrilled to finally release this eleventh song to mark the "Unison Complete the "Life" cycle.
Today they are presenting “Love Won’t Hide The Ugliness” including a music video.
Singer and drummer Stefanie comments:
"We're very happy to be able to release this song now, after such a crazy year on the road. "Love Won't Hide The Ugliness" was always one of my favorite songs when we wrote the album. It's about how love "It can cloud judgment and make it difficult to remain unbiased. It can cause people to blindly follow others and lose their own sense of beauty. At worst, it can lead to self-destruction and damage relationships."
This brand new single also celebrates the one year anniversary of the "Unison Life" album with a new limited vinyl pressing including a "Love Won't Hide The Ugliness" 7" which is available to pre-order now.
The B-side of the bonus 7" vinyl contains the intro to the Unison Life live show. For the band, the live set is just as important as a studio album, which is why "IntroVI-4AD" was released during rehearsals at the 4AD music center in Diksmuide, Belgium, was created.
Stefanie explains: "We are also often asked to release the intros of our live shows and we are thrilled that we can do it this way. An intro has to create the right atmosphere for the show. I wanted a dreamy, floating, hopeful one Setting the mood to accompany our opening track for the first series of shows: 'Liar'."
For the song's video, Brutus once again collaborated with Maximiliaan Dierckx, who also directed and shot the video for 'Liar', which officially launched the 'Unison Life' campaign. In the video for "Love Won't Hide The Ugliness" they create a dream world that deviates from the direct and confrontational style of the "Unison Life" album. The opening scene of the video was filmed in Belgium at 'Vooruit' in their hometown of Ghent, where they have played numerous sold-out shows.
The year 2023 has been very eventful for Brutus. After the release of their third album "Unison Life" they went on a tour in the spring, which took them to numerous sold-out halls in Europe and the USA. During the summer they also performed at many of the biggest festivals in Europe, the UK and the USA, including Boston Calling (USA), Rock im Park and Ring (DE), Copenhell (DK), Download (UK), Pinkpop (NL), Ressurection (ES), Pukkelpop (BE), Rock en Seine (FR) and many more.
They're back on the road in the fall of 2023, with a European tour that includes sold-out shows in Belgium and Germany, as well as trips to France, Spain, Portugal and Italy, bringing them to an incredible 105 shows for 2023.
