The temperatures are rising, each day is getting a little brighter, and spring is in the air. That can only mean one thing: the festival season is officially upon us. A season that has a lot to offer. Especially for lovers of high-class alternative rock sounds: Jera On Air has been able to prepare a line-up that should guarantee no less than unforgettable hours with the very best music.
With world-class acts including Parkway Drive, Rancid, Flogging Molly, Papa Roach and Billy Talent, there is sure to be something for just about everyone at the 29th edition of the Netherlands' largest alternative festival. The program of the festival in Ysselsteyn, which takes place this year on June 22nd, 23rd and 24th, is now completed with the addition of John Coffey, Two and a Half Girl, Slope, Fleddy Melculy, Vamachara, Exploding Head Syndrome, Neufx, Sing Along Riot, Amæzing Snäke and Guts & Glory winners Girlsgirlsgirls.
Tickets are available via www.jeraonair.nl. But be careful: Over 75% of the tickets have already been sold. Experience has shown that it won't be until the festival weekend before tickets are no longer available.
The solution is obvious: be quick!
The fact that one cannot hide one's true nature also applies above all to John Coffey, the energetic Dutch punk band around frontman David Achter de Molen. Since November last year - after a six-year break - they have been secretly working on their comeback and a new album. The desire to rock the stages and festival tents definitely kept them from an even longer break. Luckily, because the energetic shows that made John Coffey famous and notorious between 2002 and 2016, many people just didn't want to do without them anymore. They will prove that once again on the Jera On Air stage.
Two and a half Girl is one of the most talented Dutch bands that, among other things, filled a piece of the void left by the aforementioned John Coffey in 2016. Catalysed by lead singer Juliet's powerful voice, the five-piece know how to appeal to large audiences with a mix of punk, emo and rock. Two and a half Girl's live shows consist of sing-alongs, mosh pits and even a wall of death.
You don't have to expect melancholic rock at Vamachara's show at Jera On Air, because the group from California makes purely brutal hardcore music.
Ditto for the German brothers from Slope. This popular festival act has released its first 'proper' album 'Street Heat' during the Covid period, but the little masterpiece hasn't gone unnoticed. They had previously made a name for themselves at Wacken Open Air and ESNS and are now competing in Ysselsteyn.
Hardly any band has made a name for itself faster than Fleddy Melculy. What started as a joke soon turned serious. Their debut single "T-shirt van Metallica" went viral and the rest is history. With titles like 'Foto van uw hoofd', 'Het gat dat niet groot genoeg was' and 'Midlife cri666' the not-so-serious undertone - exactly what brought them their numerous fans - has remained.
In March, Girlsgirlsgirls won the Guts & Glory band competition at a sold-out Dynamo Eindhoven. By winning the prize, the men captured one of the last spots available at the upcoming edition of Jera On Air. They have already toured the Netherlands with their wonderful pop-punk as part of the 'Popronde'.
