Drain drops new single, new album "Living Proof" out May 5th

Santa Cruz-based hardcore band DRAIN today released a music video for their cover of Descendents' song "Good Good Things," which will be released May 5th on their new album, "LIVING PROOF". Swapping their thrash roots for melodic punk, the band takes the 1985 classic and debuts frontman Sammy Ciaramitaro's smooth baritone vocals. In homage to her iconic label mates, Sammy explains:

"The Descendents were a big band for me, both as a teenager and as an adult. I know I can speak for all of us when I say it's an honor to pay tribute and respect to them because this band changed the game for us I just love this song and in a weird way I felt that lyrically it touched on the very themes that Drain is about.

It was definitely a little step out of our way with cleaner vocals and whatnot, but we wanted to try to stay true to the original and give it a bit of our personality. Listen to the Descendents."

"LIVING PROOF" injects a good deal of sympathy into hardcore with its penchant for heaviness and brutality - not to mention the catchiness. Produced by longtime friend and multi-instrumentalist Taylor Young (God's Hate, Suicide Silence) and mixed by Jon Markson (Drug Church, Koyo), this is an album for anyone looking for good, friendly hardcore fun. The highly anticipated follow-up to their debut California Cursed (2020), upcoming album and recently announced headlining tour are testament to the hard work and heartfelt ethos at the heart of DRAIN's feel-good psyche.

Coming from humble DIY beginnings, DRAIN formed in 2014 and built their scene alongside friends who later formed bands like Scowl, Gulch and Sunami. In the process of paving the way for hardcore to thrive in their beach town of Santa Cruz, California, they've created a legacy that transcends their Californian roots. After releasing two EPs and an album, they signed to Epitaph in 2021 with their debut single "Watch You Burn". With heavy influences from thrash and 80's/90's hardcore, they also mix an eclectic mix of modern influences spanning from Stereogum, Revolver, The FADER, BrooklynVegan, Kerrang! and others were praised.
