Live Coverage || Death Before Dishonor, Black Mamba, Final Daze @ AN Club, Athens (19/2/2023)

Death Before Dishonor returned to Athens on February 19th for an incendiary show, along with Black Mamba and Final Daze.

Final Daze took the stage at 21:40 and for the next 30', they gave their all. It was the second time seeing them so I had a good idea of what to expect and the boys didn't disappoint. People at the front also shared my sentiments, as they gradually started warming up to the band and participated more.

Up next was Black Mamba. This show marked their first performance since the legendary Sick Of Itt All show in 2019, and also the first one with their new guitarist, Dimitris. While some nervousness was naturally expected to occur, the quintet meant business that Sunday evening. Black Mamba delivered a very intense set and managed to get people's attention despite their long absence from the stage. I may or may not have heard rumors of a new album in the works, so I'm definitely keeping an eye out for that.

Time had come for Death Before Dishonor to do what they know best; pulverize the crowd. The Boston outfit was as tight as I remember them and, despite vocalist Bryan Harris complaining that he's getting old, their youthful energy was contagious from the get-go they had people moshing and singing along. Bassist Greg Chihoski added to that element, seeing as he didn't stop jumping up and down throughout the entire performance. The daring stagedivers also made appearances from time to time. The setlist consisted of fan-favorite pit hits, perfectly showcasing DBD's discography. I was particularly happy that "Better Ways To Die" wasn't overlooked although I would have loved to hear the a couple more tracks too. I digress. The band looked very happy to be back in Athens and the crowd reciprocated that energy. Following "Friends, Family Forever" DBD briefly left the stage, only to return with the classic "Boston Belongs To Me" cover, adapted to the actual city they were playing in. This was definitely a night to remember and I sincerely wish it doesn't take another 10 years for the Bostonians to be back.
