Architects drops new single

Today, ARCHITECTS released the fourth prelude to their new album, the classic symptoms of a broken spirit, due out October 21st via Epitaph.

With the song "a new moral low ground" the band continues their exploration of fresh soundscapes with industrial and electronic influences. The track begins with moody synths before erupting in a maelstrom of riffs, with subtle harmonic arcs underscoring the chorus lines "you cut me close to the bone".

"The classic symptoms of a broken spirit" will be the band's 10th studio album and follows up on last year's critically acclaimed UK number one album For Those That Wish To Exist, which also charted in the top 3 here conquered the longplay charts.

The band barely had time to celebrate the success when they began writing the songs that make up the new album. Produced by Dan Searle and Josh Middleton, the record was recorded at Deacon's Middle Farm Studios and their own HQ, Electric Studios in Brighton, with additional support from vocalist Sam Carter.

The band were happy to finally be in the same room again after much of their last album had to be recorded in separate locations due to COVID restrictions. The overall result is "freer, more playful and more spontaneous," explains drummer and songwriter Dan. "This album feels more alive, more exciting and more fun - it has that energy. We wanted it to be a lot more industrial and electronic," agrees frontman Sam Carter.

Layers of electronic industrial elements give the album a boost of energy that sets the cinematic mood of the 11 tracks. There's more than a casual nod to the band's post-rock influences, as well as now-familiar anthems like "when we were young" that immediately raise fists.
