HIPPIE TRIM share "Dead Heat", another single from their second album "What Consumes Me", which will be released on September 16th digitally as well as on limited edition vinyl via Supervillain:
Drummer Luc Jouon says the following about the process of creating the new album:
"As a collective, we have grown closer creatively and were able to play to the strengths of the individual members better than on 'Cult'. In Corona times it was definitely a highlight to go to the studio and to escape a bit from the stagnation that the pandemic has caused for bands.”
Previously, the tracks "Hooked On U", "Toothpaste" and "Pain Ball" were released. While the band has already played shows with FIDDLEHEAD and TURNSTILE this summer, in September they will share e.g. the stage with TURBOSTAT. An exclusive release show will follow in Cologne in October:
September 24, 2022 - Mönchengladbach, Sound of Suburbia (w/ TURBOSTAAT and much more)
October 2nd, 2022 - Cologne, Sonic Ballroom (w/ TRISTESSE & RAW PLASTIC)
HIPPIE TRIM started 2019 on the scene with a bang: with only one released single to date, the quintet sold out their first show weeks in advance, followed immediately by accompanying the US post-punks DRUG CHURCH on their Germany dates, got hold of several well-known playlist placements and presented in November of the same year with "Cult" a debut album that proved that heaviness and melody by no means have to be mutually exclusive. With playful riffs, which are alternately accompanied by rough but also dreamy vocals, the formation from the Rhine-Ruhr area convinces music critics, who predict a rosy future for the band and the style mix of hardcore, punk, dream pop, emo and grunge as a uniquely identify in the local sound landscape.
In 2022, HIPPIE TRIM are more self-confident than ever and continue to expand their world of sound as part of their second album. While the material was again produced in Frankfurt, the band worked with Americans Jon Markson (DRUG CHURCH, SUCH GOLD, CAN'T SWIM) and Adam Cichocki (FREE THROW, LIKE PACIFIC) for mixing and mastering for the first time.
