When I heard that Chelsea Grin would be coming back to Europe for the Eternal Nightmare tour, I knew I had to see them again, especially now that they have their new vocalist (Tom Barber, formerly of Lorna Shore) on board. The band just started their new tour promoting their latest album “Eternal Nightmare” with support from Enterprise Earth, Kublai Kahn and Oceano. The tour made an appearance at SO36, Berlin on 22/09/18.
The show started with Enterprise Earth, a death metal band from Washington, USA who quickly got the crowd going. Kublai Khan from Texas, USA who fuse together a unique blend of metalcore and hardcore followed. Next up was Oceano from Illinois, USA. They prooved their worth with their heavy low tuned guitar riffs and earthshaking vocals. All the bands were perfectly picked to support Chelsea Grin in the best way possible.
Then deathcore giants Chelsea Grin came on stage and everyone went wild. The crowd immediately opened up a mosh-pit when the first song “Dead Rose” started playing. With their heavy breakdowns and blistering solos the audience was captivated and seemed to be having the best time. They really weren’t lying when they said it was going to be their longest set they have ever played -in fact, they played 17 songs. The whole “Eternal Nightmare” album was played along with some classics like “Recreant”, “Playing With Fire” and “Skin Deep”. After the show I had the pleasure of catching up with a few fans who were thrilled at Tom’s debut. Chelsea Grin are touring across Europe and the UK until the middle of October, make sure to catch this unforgettable experience in a venue near you. I would definitely recommend!
