The summer concert season is upon us and what’s a better way to kick off shows than Kohl Fest? The 2nd Annual Kohl Festival took place at the Reverb in Reading, Pennsylvania on May 26th. Kohl Fest had an impressive lineup with performances by Sworn In, The White Noise, Volumes, Like Moths to Flames, Upon A Burning Body, Miss May I and plenty of upcoming local bands.
The day started off with scorching heat but that certainly did not stop the fans as they patiently waited in the blazing hot sun for the doors to open. Once the doors opened the crowd made their way to the outdoor pit to hear Black Horizon.
The Festival was set with two stages, which was perfect for everyone’s music preferences and allowed for a full day of nonstop music. The Budweiser Stage was outside and hosted upcoming and local musicians such as Black Lotus and Wolfherder, while the Main Stage was indoors and promoted the headliner bands. Throughout the event, musicians could be found mingling with concertgoers and fans alike.
The sun began to set at Kohl Fest, but the party did not. The crowd moved inside for relief from the heat and to hear the remaining bands of the night.
I had the opportunity to photograph numerous bands backstage such as Miss May I and Volumes. The captured emotion of the musicians in action and the crowd’s response to the music and lyrics provides a glimpse of a Festival well done and a good time for all who attended. Cheers to a phenomenal Kohl Fest!
