The Peace & The
Panic tour made its way across the “pond” after previously in UK. The
English pop punk band, Neck Deep are currently on tour in the US
in support of their latest release The Peace & The Panic. The
opening bands for tour include Speak Low If You Speak Love, Creeper
and Seaway. The Peace & The Panic tour made an appearance at Rams
Head Live Wednesday, January 31st. Lines to get into the venue began to form
two hours before the doors opened. The cold winds off the Harbor
certainly did not stop the diehard fans.
Speak Low If You Speak
Love was the opening band for
the tour. The band is the solo project of Ryan Scott Graham (State
Champs). They opened with "Enough", "Have I Changed" and "Eight Weeks". Speak Low
If You Speak Love was a nice way to ease into the show and fans
enjoyed listening to the music. The band covered "Helter Skelter" by The Beatles
and closed the set with "Contrasting Colors".
Creeper is an English horror punk band were the next act
to play. The band began their set by playing "Hiding with Boys", "Suzanne" and "Astral
Projection". Creeper continued to build the energy and began jumping
across the stage with their guitars. The crowd consumed the energy with endless
crowd surfers. "Poison Pens" closed the set.
Seaway was the last opening band to play before the
highly anticipated Neck Deep. The Canadian pop punk band opened their
set with "Slam", "Something Wonderful", "London" and "Apartment". As the show
continued, there were more people singing along and dancing during their set. Seaway
then proceeded to close out with "Scatter My Ashes Along The Coast" and "Shy
Guys".
Neck Deep ran onto the stage to be met by screaming
fans. They opened with "Happy Judgement Day", "Lime St", "Gold Steps" and "Motion Sickness". When they played "Don’t Wait", and to the fans, surprise
Ken Taylor (Seaway) jumped on stage to join vocals with Ben Barlow. The crowd
was again blown away when Saxel Rose joined Neck Deep during "In Bloom" as
a feature saxophone player. A somewhat sombering moment came when frontman
Ben Barlow and guitarist Fil Thorpe-Evans dedicated "Wish You Were Here" to their late fathers. "A Part Of Me" was a lead into the encore with the
show ending with "Can’t Kick Up The Roots" and "Where Do We Go When We Go".
The show was a built up
of continuous surprises from guest appearances, dedications and set lists.
A great tour to kick off the 2018 concert season for Rams Head Live.
