Live Coverage || Architects, Stick To Your Guns, Counterparts @ Baltimore Soundstage, 15/02/2018

Architects is no stranger to the metal music scene. When I heard that they would be touring across the US, there was no doubt in my mind that I had to see this band. The Doomsday tour kicked off on the east coast and performed at the Baltimore Soundstage, MD on 2/15/18. The added support for the tour included Stick To Your Guns and Counterparts.

When Counterparts hit the stage, they opened up playing “Walk Away Slowly”, “Bouquet”, “Stanger” and “Haunt Me”. What a great band to kick off the night! As the band’s set continued there were more crowd surfers and the pit opened up. With “No Servant Of Mine”, chaos erupted with fans screaming back the lyrics. Counterparts closed out their set with “A Memory Misread”, “Thieves”, “Choke” and “The Disconnect”.

The next band to bring the heat was Stick To Your Guns.  The hardcore punk group grabbed the torch and continued to bring the energy to the show.  They kicked off the set with “Married To The Noise”, “Nobody” and “What Choice Did You Give Us?”. Frontman Jesse Barnett took the time to address the importance of keeping an open mind, since everyone has a right to their personal views and may see or react according to those experiences. The band then proceeded to play “Nothing You Can Do To Me”, “Doomed By You” and “Forgiveness Of Self”.  The set ended with Jesse jumping into the crowd during “Against Them All” as fans screamed the lyrics with him.

After a long awaited night and high anticipation, Architects was next. Moments before the band walked on stage, the sound of fans chanting, “Architect! Architects! Architects” echoed throughout the entire venue. As soon as the band hit the stage, there was no denying that this was going to be a night to remember and Architects was sure not to disappoint. The band began playing “A Match Made In Heaven” and the crowd went off the walls as moshing and crowd surfing ensued. Architects continued with “Downfall”, “Deathwish”, “Gravity” and “Phantom Fear”. During the mid-set, vocalist Architects Sam Carter,  paused to speak on the need for change in this world. He emphasized what happens beyond the venue will help to save the world. The moving words of Sam will hopefully inspire fans to carry out their lives with a positive mindset. The Brits closed out the set with “These Colours Don’t Run”, “Gravedigger”, “Doomsday” and “Nihilist”. Architects are one of the best live bands that I have seen and I will definitely be catching another one of their shows in the future.
