We kicked off the year in the best way possible. After a long time (almost four years, but who's counting?), Comeback Kid returned to Greece for two incendiary shows. The second show in Thessaloniki featured our good friends in My Turn and OYD from Kalamata.
My Turn got on stage at around 21:30. Despite the low attendance, they delivered a remarkable performance. The setlist consisted of newer (and even very new, still untitled) material, while tiptoeing around the older releases. One of my favorite shows of theirs, for sure. (8)
OYD was up next. Their Nu-influenced songs didn't really appeal to the crowd, which chose to keep a distance from the stage. The band had a good sound but maybe wasn't the best fit for this show. (5)
Having already had the general rehearsal the day before in Athens, Comeback Kid was ready for action. Definitely more relaxed, they started with the title track of their latest album, "Outsider", unleashing the energy their performances are known for. The 100 or so kids singing along to every song made the show more intimate, with vocalist Andrew Neufeld inviting them to come dance inside the barrier -not that he himself didn't spend a good portion of the show on the barrier, sharing the mic with the fans. One thing I've noticed with this band over the years is that they never fail to keep the setlist interesting and very consistent, while their latest hits received a very positive feedback. After about an hour on stage, the Canadian powerhouse finished the set with "Wake The Dead" and even more chanting and singalongs. (9)
